This is work I've done this year. I find ratty old furniture and refurbish the pieces and then use a variety of transfer techniques to apply these fine art images which I spill out from, painting above, below and up and around until I have a spectacular piece. Part mine and part master artist from days gone by.
This piece was cracked and dried out, and on its way to a dumpster. It is a 30's "Waterfall" vanity. I decoupaged Klimt images from his "Ages of Mankind" series to the side edges, draping them down the sides of the front. I painted the whole piece with burnt siennas, oranges and reds, then painted off the sides of the decoupaged ares, using design details from Klimt's piece.
